DEALERSCOPE CONNECTED HOME

Environmental monitoring products supplier Sencentric has brought out the SimpleSENCE Wi-Fi sensor for detecting water leaks and freeze conditions.

The standalone, self-contained device provides 24/7 monitoring and alert notification to the user’s alert list, anywhere in the world, connecting directly to a router without requiring a smart-home hub or additional equipment; an added benefit is that there are no subscription costs. Further, the company says that since SimpleSENCE connects to the router in only one to two seconds about every 25 hours, it is virtually unhackable.

The detector’s small footprint allows for placement in any leak-prone area, and setup is fast and easy, with step-by-step instructions available via the app. SimpleSENCE also alerts users to freezing temperatures that can lead to further concerns.

The user can also choose a preferred mode of alert: text, email, or both to a smartphone as soon as a leak or freezing condition is detected. Additionally, an onboard siren, activated when a leak or freezing temperature condition is detected, will sound an alert for when the user’s smartphone is not close by. This function also ensures that a user who is at home will be alerted even when the Wi-Fi connection is down.

It features a two-year battery life and a two-year warranty. The device comes in a 1-unit pack ($59.95); a 3-unit pack ($169.95); and a 5-unit pack ($279.95).
